It was goose-egg city on second guessing my Final 4 and placements. But what I discovered with the challenge -- and it was hardly surprising -- is that color guard favorites run deep. I post the Top 32 here, issue the challenge, 70 people respond, and 45 units are mentioned in the responses.
What does not compute?
Here is what was submitted. Sixty-six percent of the respondents had Fantasia as the Runner-Up; the same percentage had Flanagan High School as a Final 4 finisher. Color Guard of the Year votes were shared by 11 different units, the only one to garner a statsitically significant advantage was Center Grove High School, at 33 percent. On the same note, the "other" Final 4 spot, with 21 different units mentioned, held advantage to Zydeco with that same 33 percent of the vote.
If there was a "winner" among the voters, it would be Flanagan High School. The Scholastic World gold medalist was mentioned in three of the four categories. Not included, at all? As the Runner-Up.
The surpise for me -- this was my challenge, after all --was that Field&Floor Runner-Up Alter Ego received not one vote in any category. When you watch the DVDs, you'll be sorry that you did not include the New Jersey guard.
So there was no winner; there is no DVD to be had ... except by me :-) But thanks, nonetheless, to everyone who participated.
I love that your color guard preferences preclude anyone else's wishes and desires. That is as it should be.
